colorado snowboard blog

Welcome to the Colorado Snowboard Blog for the '09-'10 season! I have been bestowed the honor of chronicling what is going on in the Rockies for you and I am planning to gather as many surly bastards as I can every weekend to completely dominate the hills and report back to you as many details as I can recall. My mission for this blog is to keep you Front Rangers (and beyond) updated as to what is happening up in the mighty Summit County and surrounding regions as far as events, snow conditions, general happenings, the scene and how bad scenesters suck, and the sordid tales of decadence and excess that have so far detailed my 15 previous years of snowboarding.

"So what the hell is going on right now? It's September, you moron!" you ask. Well, first of all if you slacked on getting a pass like my esteemed roommate did there is still hope. I was under the impression that Labor Day weekend would see the end of "affordable" pass prices but the good people at Copper, Winter Park, and Steamboat have extended their offer of $399 for the Rocky Mountain Super Pass. At the time of this posting the website does not say how long this price will be good so I'd say blow off the car payment for a paycheck and get on this one ASAP. Individual mountain pass prices still stand at thier pre-Labor Day rates as well if $369 for Winter Park sounds a little more do-able for you. Yes I know it hurts throwing down for a pass but this is what seperates US from THEM, and by THEM I mean gapers. You're not a gaper, are you? Hit up http://www.skicolorado.com to get up to Copper/WP/Steamboat. If your buddies went with the Colorado Pass this season then you're in luck as well because those pre-Labor Day prices are still good as of this posting. Hit up http://www.snow.com/passsales/default.aspx to get up with all the cool kids who only ride Breck because that's where the scene is. I'll be at Mary Jane because I had to buy dog food and couldn't pop the extra $30 to add Copper, but I was only at Copper once last season on a crappy day so it's not a big deal on this end. If you see a couple of bastards pulling the classic White Line Nightmare while yelling "DAGGERS" over on Jane then you know you've found me. I'll see you at Pepperoni's for a beer, but I won't be buying you one.

Also, if you've bothered to look west in the past two days then you've probably seen some white stuff on the foothills and the Divide. No, you (probably) weren't trippin'; it did snow in the mountains last night. According to coloradoski.com (a snow-report site) there's some serious season pass sales going on so I'm thinking the clouds dumped season passes on the hills since nobody's reporting any accumulation. Make a run for it and see if you can get around paying $400 or more for your pass. Yeah right. According to my good friend Kimber it was SNOW on them hills, enough to close BOTH Berthoud and Loveland passes yesterday and send her on the long way down to Englewood to pay us an unexpected pop-in.

Well that's about all I've got for you now.

Until next time,

Shred Hard.

Damn it seems early to be having snow in the hills but that is righteous! Get the rockboards ready…
