Big, big news just came rolling down from the Divide. I know it did get cold enough last night to have me scrape the ice off my windows this morning and that got my riding jones pumping pretty hard. Then my esteemed roommate texted me rumors of Loveland and/or A-Basin opening THIS WEEKEND. Well, after taking a look at A-Basin's site the rumors are confirmed; they will BOTH be open this weekend. Actually Loveland is taking the crown this season by OPENING TOMORROW. That's right you fiends (myself included), you can ride at Loveland tomorrow so ditch class, call in sick (or dead), ditch your girlfriend or boyfirend if they don't ride and get up there for some early season madness on mostly artificial snow!

Ok, I know I'm not a great pitch-man unlike that dude that hocked Oxy-Clean before he croaked, but this something to truly be excited about. A-Basin's site reported that this is the earliest opening in their history so Al Gore can just go and shut the hell up. I don't know what Loveland's record is but I'm sure it's been either tested or broken with this announcement. I don't know about you guys but I'll be up there this weekend for sure at some point. Right now Denver is forecasted to get hit with a snowstorm Friday night and that sucks for me because on top of landscaping I also do snow removal so that could blow my Saturday.

What else do you need to know about...?

Season passes are still "cheap" until 10/18 so quit blowing it off and get one. The metal band Alestorm kicks serious ass so make sure to check them out and make them part of your soundtrack when you spot-rock in the parking lot when you're gearing up. And Burton is premiering their new flick tomorrow night at the Ogden at 7pm. I don't know if tickets are still up for grabs or not but I have mine. I'll be there with a review to be posted in the near future.
